Insulate Exposed Pipes.

As temperatures drop, exposed pipes in unheated areas are at risk of freezing, which can cause them to burst and lead to significant water damage. Take preventative measures by insulating these pipes with foam insulation sleeves or heat tape. Insulating pipes is a cost-effective way to protect them from freezing temperatures and minimize the risk of costly repairs.

Focus on pipes located in basements, attics, garages, or any areas that are not well-insulated. A burst pipe can cause extensive flooding and damage, so it’s well worth the time and effort to add this extra layer of protection. Heat tape is especially useful in areas prone to severe cold, as it provides continuous warmth to prevent freezing.

If you’re unsure about which pipes need insulation, consider consulting a plumber for a professional evaluation. They can help you identify potential problem areas and provide recommendations on how best to protect your plumbing system.
