Inspect and Clean Gutters.

As leaves start to fall, gutters can quickly become clogged, leading to water overflow and potential damage to your property. Clogged gutters can cause water to pool on the roof or spill over the sides, potentially seeping into the foundation and causing cracks or leaks. Take the time to clean your gutters regularly throughout the fall season, particularly after heavy leaf fall or storms.

Beyond protecting your foundation, keeping gutters clear helps avoid the formation of ice dams in the winter. When water accumulates and freezes, it can damage your gutters, roof, and siding. Make sure all downspouts are free of obstructions and extend at least a few feet away from your home to direct water safely away from the foundation.

If cleaning gutters seems risky or cumbersome, consider hiring a professional. They can not only clean but inspect for any damages or signs of wear, such as rust, cracks, or sagging areas that need to be addressed. It’s a small investment in time and money that can prevent costly repairs down the line.
